MASTER CLEANSE

Sometimes called the lemonade diet, a popular diet called the ‘master cleanse’ is a concoction of water, maple syrup, cayenne pepper and lemon juice.  I am told this comes out to about 110 calories per cup.  According to the diet you are to drink a minimum of 6 cupfuls (and up to 12) daily for as minimum of 660 calories a day.  The obvious flaw being there is no protein, vitamins or minerals in this daily consumption.

A healthier option is to add natural fruit and veggies to your diet, more fiber, and eliminating sugar and “white” foods.  Some additional helpful tips:

  • Eliminate processed foods…stick to raw and natural
  • Eat more servings of fruit and particularly vegetables (7-9 servings)
  • Choose more vegetables over protein, but stick to lean proteins like chicken, turkey and fish
  • Cut back on caffeine
  • Cut out alcohol
  • Drink more water…up to half your body weight (but in ounces).  So if you weigh 140 pounds, drink 70 ounces of water.  Add some fresh lemon or lime for flavor.
  • Use a colon-cleanse supplement to detox the impurities from your system.  Follow directions for proper use.

One all natural colon cleanser to try is Co-Clean. While many people find it difficult to lose weight from their waistline or stomach they often believe that it is solely due to stored fats in that area. After cleansing, removing these waste products stored in the colon, you will experience weight loss, and a flatter, non-swollen stomach. By increasing your colons ability to absorb essential vitamins such as vitamin K, you will be boosting your metabolism, allowing your body to burn fat more effectively.
